GENERAL MARKET INFORMATION

The University of Utah hosts its 5th annual campus Farmers Market during the fall semester of 2012.

The market seeks to link local growers and artisans with a campus community that desires access to fresh, healthy, local produce and unique arts and crafts where they live, work, and study.

Come join us for another year enjoying a great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, supporting our local economy, and helping make the market a campus tradition and delicious community event!

Where: Tanner Plaza, between the Student Services Building and the Union

When: Thursdays, August 16 - October 4, 2012

Time: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

GETTING TO THE MARKET

We encourage you to shuttle, take UTA, walk, or bike over to the market if at all possible. Parking is very limited! The nearest visitor lot, accessible from 100 S (North Campus Drive) and Wolcott Street, fills up early. You can also park in the visitor lot at the east end of the Union, accessed from Central Campus Drive, and walk down to the other end of the building. Or use the Campus Store visitor lot, accessed from South Campus Drive. Please note that vendors and market managers do not validate parking.

BRING YOUR OWN BAG!

Help the University of Utah cut down on waste. Please bring your own bags to the Farmers Market on Thursdays. Sturdy and stylish custom organic cotton shopping bags are available for purchase at the market managers' booth. Recycling and compost bins will be also available for visitors and vendors.

Information for Vendors

Thank you for your interest in being a vendor at the University of Utah Farmers Market. The market is open to local growers, artisans, fresh and prepared food vendors. We give preference to vendors who grow or make everything they are selling, and for prepared food vendors, for those who offer healthy items made from local and organic ingredients.

Hosting a market on a university campus presents both unique opportunities and some challenges. The market season is a short 8 weeks, opening the third week of August before fall classes begin and closing at the university's fall break in October. This does correspond to the peak harvest season and can provide an outlet for an abundance of fresh, local products.

Market customers are primarily university students, staff, and faculty, though local residents and neighbors are welcome and encouraged to attend. Since the market is during the day, customers may not be headed straight home, so may not be able to buy in larger quantities or "stock up."

The Market emphasizes sustainably-produced, local, healthy, diverse food offerings as well as unique hand-made arts and crafts. Please refer to the Vendor Handbook for more detailed information and review it carefully before you apply.
