Come Thrift with Us!

Come celebrate Earth Month at our FREE Thrift Pop-Up! The Earth Month Thrift Pop-Up is an opportunity for the University of Utah community to practice sustainability by participating in a free, secondhand self-serve market. Attendees are invited to take their pick from a collection of used clothing items. This event encourages thrifting as a sustainable alternative to fast fashion, helping divert clothing from landfills while promoting reuse within our campus community.

Earth Month Thrift Pop Up
When: Thursday, April 2nd, 10am-2pm

What Goes Around Comes Around

A FREE On-Campus Pop-Up Thrift Shop

Did you know the Office for Sustainability Education hosts the largest FREE thrift shop on campus? Well, you do now! Join us to contribute to the circular economy, keep textiles out of the landfill and find your new favorite clothing item!

When students move out of their residence halls at the end of the year, they donate gently used items like linens, bathroom and kitchen supplies, clothing and unopened food stuffs. We keep all these items out of landfill by donating food to the Feed U Pantry and redistributing everything else to students in a free pop-up thrift shop at the beginning of the next semester. The program, fondly known as “WGACA,” helps meet students’ basic needs, promotes a circular economy and moves toward a zero waste campus.

If you want to ensure access to these items for the fall semester, please contact the Basic Needs Collective.

Contribute to our Circular Economy - Donate to What Goes Around Comes Around

Live in the residence halls or know someone who does? From April 13 to May 2, 2026, you can donate gently used clothing, bedding, kitchen items, and hygiene products in red donation carts at Lassonde Studios, Kahlert Village, Peterson Heritage Center (PHC), and the Epicenter.

Your donations help divert thousands of pounds of waste from the landfill—and you get to shop for FREE!

Stay tuned: We're planning our Fall pop-up thrift shop where you can shop for clothing and textiles for Fall semester 2026.

Look for the signs and drop off your stuff—help the planet and refresh your space!
