The Sustainability Office coordinates sustainability education, research, and initiatives at the University of Utah. Headed by Amy Wildermuth, the Interim Chief Sustainability Officer for the University, the Office oversees the coordination of sustainability-related teaching and training, and academic programs across campus and supports the development of new curricula and student-engagement programs.
In collaboration with the Global Change & Sustainability Center, the Office facilitates the coordination of interdisciplinary research on sustainability and assists in procuring ongoing and additional funding to support these efforts. Additionally, the Office supports the Sustainability Resource Center’s efforts to guide, support, and enable the realization of a comprehensive and inclusive sustainable campus by enhancing educational opportunities, supporting student engagement and initiatives, and promoting best practices through the use of the campus as a living lab. Lastly, the Office is the University’s liaison with outside constituencies—governmental, nonprofit, private organizations, and businesses—on sustainability issues. The Office works closely with the President, the Senior Vice Presidents, the deans, and directors of sustainability centers and programs to cooperate with outside groups interested in sustainability.
